“Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting, that is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - That is patience.” ~ Anonymous

Salam..

It is already March, and the third month of the year marks my fourth month of being unemployed. Oh well, when I put it that way, it does seems that bad right?

=)

After all, it seems like everyone is moving forward with their careers, some are getting married, and going to various wedding celebrations will of course guarantee a meeting with old friends. And one of the never-missed sure questions is, "Hey, so what are you doing now? You've graduated right?"

Yes, I've been a graduate since August 2009, which is 7 months ago. And since then, I've been working for 3 months and quit when the contract is over, while at the same time applying for various positions at various institutions, going for interviews and dreading the outcome every single time.

I applied for Khazanah Watan Scholarship which, for me, is the toughest yet (compared to Shell Scholarship Award) due to its stringent interviews, exams and such. Shortlisted for the 1st stage (which consist of IQ, personality and aptitude test), got through and went for the second stage (where interviews, Apprentice-like board meetings and tasks were given). Waited anxiously for the result and fortunately enough got through to the third stage (which is the final stage and my turn for the interview done by the senior management executive of Khazanah Nasional is interestingly enough done at 7.30 pm).

Went for interview at Universiti Malaya (where the only other candidate is a UK graduate with a sweet smile). Got an email from UiTM inviting me for interview which is complete with a mock teaching session and I chose a field which while I'm sure is becoming pretty important, is quite too specialized compared to conventional chemical engineering subjects.

Both now resides in the same category; my name is submitted and is waiting for the Registrar's approval. And subconsciously I think the current economic condition is preventing the University(s) from hiring but I'm still hoping for the best..... And just a few days ago an email informing me of the outcome of Watan Scholarship finally arrives. Therefore I will be going for the briefing session which hopefully will give me some insight into the deal.

Had also went to some other interviews where one stands out due to the fact that I did not realize I'm being interviewed (and make quite a fool of myself by trying to lighten the mood up and failed miserably) as opposed to just chit-chatting about the topics involved. Being given an ultimatum by another possible-interviewer to come for the interview conducted on the same day with another interview (which I've already committed myself to) and eventually I had to let it go as it would be unethical for me to break my word.

Sometimes it's funny thinking back on all that has happened. But then, money is also a very big issue. The truth is, although I had my own savings, it's never been my habit to spend it because I know how hard it is when you live without a fall-back plan. Therefore, after buying a new laptop to replace my faulty Dell lappie (whose motherboard is toasted), I kinda felt some regrets because after repairing, the Dell machine is working just fine with a motherboard replacement (which costs me almost half 1k) and I hardly use the new one.. *sob* So now, I'm totally broke (and while I think it's an accomplishment to live on my last pay for 4 months when you factor in the fuel, maintenance and food its hardly a good thing walking around with barely RM100 in your bank).. Therefore, I'm thinking of looking for some temporary jobs such as being a RA for 2 or 3 months maybe? So, anyone got any info on this? Lol..

Will update later. Had to find some inspiration to write again. This post is just to let people know I'm alive, and no, I'm not becoming a recluse or something. Honestly I think that FB is being an unsurprising addiction and I think my pets are getting hungry; better go to Pet Society to feed 'em..

Lol.. =p

Adios~

When Boredom Crashes In....

Salam..

There's tonnes of things to do for certain people while for others, it certainly feels like there's nothing to do, like it did for me. Well, actually there's stuffs to take care of but me being me, I'd rather let my head rest for a while.. After all, unlike many others who aeons ago finishes their thesis@undergrad study, this stretch of time is actually a resting period, time for me to catch up to other study-unrelated things such as relaxing, surfing the net, downloading stuffs, catching up with friends and FB-ing, because in a few weeks time, things will pick up pace again. =)

So what did I do?

The answer is simple : With Internet, there's always things to do!

Primarily for me,
I played games such as :

1. Pet Society

This one needs no introduction, after all, a lot of people are already addicted to this months ago. Hehe.. I remember started playing this when Dila introduced me to it.. And soon enough, the whole gang started going gaga over it! There's one thing I looked back fondly on, one day during November last year's semester break (and we're busy starting our laboratory works), after slaving away the whole morning, Zira, Dila, Wan and me opened up our laptops while conquering one whole stretch of tables and hogging the available plugs to play PS.. Seriously, if people saw us from afar, they would think that we were busy doing projects due to the seriousness of our faces.. Hey, we are at the Stadium playing lompat-lompat okay.. =p

My house, 1st floor. And my pet, Noen..

Noen visiting a friend's house.. Lovely house, right? I'm jealous!!

The Food Shop.. For all your pets needs.. =)

The new feature, the Garden! Hehe.. Quite fun, coz u got to plant either trees, veggies of flowers and sell it for money or 'gift'ing it away.. =) The flowers are great as decor tho..

2. Restaurant City

A fairly addictive game, especially when your racing against friends to gain higher levels.. Haha.. First played this while doing my Mechanical Design months ago.. =) You get to employ your friends to work in your restaurant, improve your dishes and offer it as main course, appetizers or dessert, customize the look of your restaurant and your employees, and trade with others for ingredients.. Frankly, I love it!!

3. Farm Town

A simple game, involves a lot of waiting, but still an entertaining one.. Watching the plants grow is nice.. Not for those who don't like waiting tho, coz you'll get bored soon enough..

My simple farm.. Haha.. So malas to decorate @ arrange everything.. For now, I'm thinking money, bebeh! =p

4. Geo Challenge

Those who hated geography, beware! Hehe.. I love this game, coz not only it's fun, but also stimulates your flag & map recognition & memory skills.. Great for people who wants to learn geography in a fun way.

There's four stages; flag (like the pic up there), country map, interesting places and landmarks.. Very challenging while starting out, but get playing and you'll be able to memorize the answers.. =)

5. Word Challenge

Good for your english, and typing skills.. Haha.. 'Nuff said!

6. Who Has The Biggest Brain

Somewhat of an IQ test, and fun to play.. =) Addictive and mind-stimulating.. (yeke??) Haha..

7. Bowling Buddies

Bowl away... =) Just a simple game, using your mouse and you can even get strikes every time! Haven't managed to do that tho.. LoL..

Oh well, those are few of the games I played this past few weeks.. Haha.. Anyways, enjoy people! July is creeping near, only a week left for 'relaxing' purposes..

That been said, have a nice weekend!

Thanks for reading..

My Miri Escapades...

Salam..

In my last post, I mentioned something about heading off to Miri right? Well, I had gone there for the Shell Recruitment Day. It has been a very interesting and enlightening experience, especially doing the exercises and meeting the people there.

One thing I certainly notice first is the friendliness of the people in Miri. We had some difficulties finding a halal restaurant for lunch + dinner, but in the end, everything came through. =) And very sorry for the lack of pictures, I didn't bring my camera because I was trying to keep things light, and if you've seen my camera, you'll know what I mean..

LoL..

Aerial view of Miri, taken from here..

Anyway, the SRD lasts for two days; the first is the prebriefing day which also includes practices for group discussion regarding the case study, while the second day is the real deal. But regardless of the results, I never regretted the decision to come because:
  1. I got the chance to go to Miri. Have never went there before, and now am jealous over the fact that it is so peaceful there. No traffic jams, no reckless drivers, very easy atmosphere and nice people.
  2. Met with and get to know a few great people; the other candidates (there were 5 of us altogether), the coordinator and the accessors. You felt welcomed and very much at ease with these people. =)
  3. Gain more experience in preparing myself for an interview, in this case, preparing for the other accessments as opposed to only interview.
  4. Just plain experience, which is a valuable lesson by itself because it shows me how I acted under stressful situations and how to overcome some of the things that I didn't expect I would do under that circumstances.
So, basically it was a good experience. And now, for the pictures, courtesy of one Mr Jackson :

The three out of four guys of our group. There's Gobi, Peter and Jackson (l-r) and the one missing is Ahmad. Yep, you guessed it, I'm the only girl there. Haha.. Nasib baik all of them is very gentlemen and did not bully me. LoL..

4/5th of the whole group.. =) Nice bunch of people, this is.. =p
(And that includes me! Angkat bakul sekejap..)

Yours truly, with Peter as the photographer.. Haha.. Kesian us, we had nothing else to do
after the interview that we pass the time taking pictures.. =)

Oh well, we certainly didn't have enough time to jalan-jalan in Miri because of the tight schedule, (and our dwindling pocket money.. *sob*), so anyone game on going Cuti-Cuti Malaysia??

Thanks for reading!
=)

ps : Seems like I have hutang tag to do, hehe.. Will try to update a-s-a-p okay? =) And in the ast picture, when I mean famous, its the picture behind us.. Haha.. Don't terkena punk'd k!!

The End of the Year, the Result and the Trip

Salam..

Seems like the closer we get to the year 2009, more and more people starts to reminisce back and recounting their 2008 experiences. Well, the truth is, I really think that time is moving so fast! And try as I might, I just couldn't recall everything from earlier this year. Nevertheless, there are some memories that I will treasure forever.. All the incidents that happened, all the scandals that we've made (hahaha.. Girls, you know what I mean..), in the end all it did was bring us all together, closer than ever..

It is kinda sad to think that this time next year, all of us could be going our own way. Some might continue on in the academic path and obtain higher degrees, and some of us might start working already. Those choices that have to be made, and paths to be chosen, I do hope that all turns out alright in the end.

Anyway, today is the day my last semester results is out. Actually, I had a sleepless night yesterday, thinking and worrying about things today. Alhamdulillah, it was okay. I was really hoping that the result would be able support my CGPA which by the way is on a downwards trend since the last few semesters. And fortunately, it did!

I am happy!!!

Hehe.. Couldn't resist to put that one up. Lol.. Still, it would have been nice if my Plant Design is higher coz we did work our --- off for it. After all, it was starting last semester that I started to warm up to the concept of staying up becoz before this my curfew is at the latest 12.00. Nevertheless, I am thankful for what I got, and even though hoping that it is better, what is done is done. There is no need to look back, rather than planning out for the future.

Oh well, labwork-wise, I am at the second stage of my work - bacteria identification. It has taken me two weeks already to deal with Gram staining but it is still not enough. And due to my trip starting tomorrow, I won't be continuing it this Friday.. Hehe..

Well, a girl gotta have her break, right?

About the trip, yep, I'll be going on a holiday starting tomorrow, taking advantage of the Christmas holiday and the weekend. Where am I going? Well, this time we're going to the North, namely the states Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perlis. There are plans to visit Langkawi and Penang, while also diverging to Wang Kelian on the Thai-Perlis border. And if time allows it, we'll singgah at my Grandmum's house for a visit.

=)

And lastly, my wish to all :

And thanks for reading!

RSCE-SOMChE

Salam..

Sorry for the last post. It might not makes sense, especially for those who didn't know what it's all about, or for that matter, whom it's about. Well, I think its suffice to say that I'm on the verge of trying to make it better. Sometimes, this things needs time to clear up, so let's just hope for the best, ait?!

=)

That's better! Hehe.. Btw, last week, a few undergrads students from our department went to accompany our bis sis n bros for this :

RSCE-SOMCHE.. =)

This conference, well to me at least, is somewhat of an eye-opening event, mainly because it is through this that I see how an international conference is conducted and what it all involves. The plenary talk was quite good, although I really had to listen to what some of the speakers say in order to understand what they are talking about. Maybe because of the accent difference? Hehe.. I did gain some additional information usable for my thesis tho. But, all in all, it is a good experience. Though I have to admit, the food was the highlights of the day!

Feel free to see the pictures that Da Godfather snapped.. Mouth-watering...... Oh well, experiencing the thing myself, I guess its "Congratulations" to the Department for a job well done.. =)

Next, cam-whoring as usual... Lol..

KLCC at night.. Plagiarized @ grabbed from wanz.. =p

6 of the 14 present undergrads in attendence.. =)

Me and wanz, waiting for the opening ceremony on the first day. We arrived 1 hour and about 15 minutes from the expected time the opening ceremony begins.
Nasib ko lah labu~
haha.. Can't resist..

Lastly, a collage made using Picasa.. =) I just lurve godek-godeking with pictures!! =)

Girls, will always be, well, girls!

My Thesis Initial Work..

Salam..

How's the holiday so far?? Haha.. To tell the truth, it does not feel like a holiday to me at all because for the past two weeks I have been constantly at the lab doing work for my thesis.. Haizz, why oh why my cultures are growing so fast?!!

LoL..

Guess it is to be expected. Dealing with unknown number or bacteria species is something that requires diligent work and constant observation. Haha.. Anyway, I know I've mentioned my thesis title a long time ago, but the truth is, my supervisors wanted to try something new, which got something to do with termites..

Termites??

Yeah, those whitish ant-like creatures which really likes to eat the wooden part of our houses to the point of total destruction. Only for my thesis, I did not look for termites at home, but those which utilizes waste as it's primary source of food, namely palm waste.

So what I did was to go search for termites at.....

Palm oil plantation.. Preferably at the reputan-reputan kayu and daun.. =)
Want a closer look??

Here's a few of them..

And another batch of termites..

Hehe.. It's interesting, and it needs a lot of work, so I do think that sacrificing this holiday time is worth saving some time during next semester. After all, we're going to have 22 credits for the last semester which is the highest number of credits we've ever taken this 4 years of studies.

Okay, will add up to this entry soon. Need to go out for a while, hehe.. So, till next time!

And thanks for reading..

A Commencement of a Makeover...

Salam..

Just a quick one today I'm afraid.. Haha.. As you would notice, I have changed my template. Like it? Hate it? Do tell.. =)

The new look..

Anyway, this week has been full with doing laboratory works.. =) As it is, I am done doing the operation (remember this??), and will post up the picture soon.. Lol.. And if you're wondering about the operation, just one thing, the one being operated on is definitely not me.. Haha..

Now, suspense or not???

Haa.. OKla, till next update. Take care all.. And all the best for your respective theses for final year students and exams for those who are still having them. =)

And as usual, thanks for reading..

Salam..

Just wanted to wish ALL my friends, SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI!! And do forgive me for any mistakes I've made no matter when or where. =)

Actually dunno what to say, after all, it's hari raya! =) Have a really nice day, spend precious time with family and loved ones, and be happy. For those who are travelling today, have a safe journey and may you all arrive safely at your destination.

=)

I will be heading to Ipoh today. And should be back here on Saturday at the most. Hehe.. Got tonnes of things to do, what's with my having to re-do everything for thesis and design project.

Have fun today, and be safe!

What I've Been Up To?

Salam..

Just finished playing host to my uncle.. Haha.. Remember I told you about a cousin of mine who is getting married last week? Well, today the newlyweds come to visit relatives' houses, namely ours. Man, quite tired la.. ;-)

Still, it's quite funny to think a lot of weddings were held. Maybe it's because of the school holidays.. There's this :

At Bandar Tun Razak

At UPM.. At this one, I felt so guilty coz the bride's parents r good friends with my mum, so they told us to sit at the VIP table, but then when the groom's family arrived, erm, one word, awkward! =)

This one is at Kg Pandan, if I'm not mistaken.. ;-)

At my uncle's house, waiting for the ceremony to start.. =)

Anyway, moving on to other topic, (why did a lot of people I know blogged about weddings eyh? First, there was, Yanz ~ btw, sorry sis for not commenting on that post.. haha.. Been busy! LoL.. Confirm my fren Kamal is cracking his fingers dy, sowy for not commenting! Lalalalala...

...

...

...

Quoting yanz, ca alif buuuuuuuutttttt!!!

Later, uols..
~Oops, tertiru lagi.. Ampun!

Thanks for reading... Will add more about my latest outing with my BFF.. I'll try to finish it a.s.a.p kay! =)

PS :
About industrial training, right now we're close to about 70% of the whole project. Will try to finish the samples irradiated at 20kGy this coming week, and finish off the repeats for the not-so-cantik results.. Presentation on the first day (read : 23rd of June), my partner will finish a week earlier than me, then supposedly on 27th, will have to go to Damansara for an evaluation, 28th and 29th is resting time, and last week all to myself! Haha.. Must be quite boring at that time though.. Oh well, time to catch up with various animes and movies, and books, and games.. Hehe.. Looks like I won't be that bored after all.. Wish all of you the best in the remaining period yea.. Gambatte!

To finish off, what do you get when the car is moving, and you saw the sunset that is so beautiful, but the only camera you have is a VGA cam?

This!

Blurry pic, but ok-lah, considering the circumstances.. LoL..

All the best, people! And for those on holiday, take d time to really enjoy yourselves and escapade! And good luck..

ITEX

Salam..

It's been a week already since I've went to ITEX, but a promise is still a promise right? Hehe.. I've drafted parts of it, only I didn't quite have enough time to finish it off.. Nevertheless, let's take a visit down memory lane, shall we (that is, before I forget d details... lol..)

...

ITEX

Actually, I would never have known about this event if my friend Nad hadn't sms me,

rina, jom pegi KLCC weekend ni?

eh? jauhnya.. de pape ke nak gi sana? Kinokuniya eh? ;-)

ITEX - International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition! Nak tengok ktorg punya part ada masuk x..

....and that practically sums up our reason to head there.. So, with excited hearts, we braved the full LRT and putra trains to get to the 'Sun'..

Of course, with Nad, food is a must. Lol.. So, after meeting at Kinokuniya, with Nad bagging a few books (or was it one only??) including the Sophie Kinsella (is it the right spelling, I wonder.. Haha.. Sorry if it's mistaken, Shopahilic fans..), we went straight for a drink downstairs..

And managed to get :

Waffle with banana slices and yam icecream ~ nad's

Peach with conservative vanilla icecream ~ mine!

While eating away, and trading various stories of our internship experience sofar, and discussing those of our friends, told her of the tragic-story-but-somewhat-funny thing that happened.. Wanna know what it is? Haha.. Maybe later.. ;-)

Next, we headed to the convention centre, while snapping away.. Haha.. I just loved taking pictures, which is such a pity considering I don't have a camera.. The only one I have is my vga phone camera, which is not that great, but still, quite dependable. ;-) Hopefully I'll get the camera this time around.. lol..

Believe it of not, this was a candid picture of nad.. Haha.. Just love the perspective.. =)

And tried another for myself, only it did not work quite what I've expected, still, OKla.. ;-)

The Convention Centre

At first, we were quite apprehensive coz there does not seems to be a crowd there.. Did we came at the wrong time?? But then, when we enter the gratefully cool surroundings (did you notice that the rain have been absent for a loooooooong time? It sure is hot..), the sight of people zipping in and out and rushing here and there sooths our nerves.. =) We did come to the right place after all!! Haha..

Another candid photo.. Haha.. Nad would be so furious!! lalalala..

Got our VISITOR stickers and went into the fray..

There was a lot of booths that day, and the pameran was a very educational one.. But one thing that I'm proud of is that we're not clueless when reading all those techie notes and words.. At least we know what the **** the inventor means when he/she describes their process and invention. Snapped a few pics on the posters but dunno if I can post it coz the owner might not approve, so bear with me ok..

Hehe.. Found some infos about hydroxyapatite (it's a type of catalyst..), which to me, is significant because of this one thing, but I'll save that one for later yea.. I firmly hold to the principle,
"You need not unsaid the things you never needed to say in the first place"
~a Yamani proverb (and this Yamani is a fictional one k.. No need to search it up.. Haha..

So I'll only tell when it's fail-proof and sure.. ;-)

Also get to play with some things, as an example, this :

A type of a system that converts what you type directly into Morse code and the receiver which also uses the same system can decipher it directly into words, as opposed to having a personnel listening intently to the beep beep beep all the time.. =)

The people who guarded this particular exhibit were either too tired to ask us not to abuse the thing, or simply laughing at our backs coz it's somewhat childish! Haha.. Still, I like the spontaneity.. Lol.. =)

Then, had some cornflakes cookies.....

Haha.. We were munching on these...

And these.....

And took our sweet time looking at this one.. =) And take one bite.. It tastes funny yea.. I wonder.....

...Only to found out the last one was made from THIS!!! Haha.. Only that it was made from the biji, not the isi.. =) No wonder it tastes different!

And the first two were made from this! =) Haha..

Is this some type of UFO? Or a fan?

Nah.. It's a solar-powered cooker.. =)

And Nad asks this one question.. "Eh, they said it was used for campers who loves camping and jungle-trekking right? How can we use it when there's no sun? Or when the sun is obscured by the trees??" Hmm.. So that means we have to cook only during daylight? And while we're at it, find a spot that has constant sunlight? Hee.. A pity we didn't ask the inventor that day.. Maybe the thing can store the electricity, coz I'm sure the person has add up all the problems eyh.. Hee..

Stopped by at UM's booth, but couldn't find Hilman.. Hee.. And we were looking through the posters when one of the exhibitors approach us and starts to describe all about his business-for-researchers-learning-tool.. Hehe.. Answered a questionnaire and got a Kit-Kat free! Lol.. Thanks Mr!

Also spend quite some time at UKMs' and met a lecturer of mine.. My Mechanics Design lecturer, in fact.. Apparently she won gold medal for her invention involving fuel cell.. Couldn't remember the full title though.. Haha.. =)

Afterwards, at 3 something, we began to head back to Suria for our late-but-well-deserved-lunch.. After debating over the various choices, we chose Nandos.. =)

My lunch.. Yummy!

And before heading back, managed to grab a few books at Times Bookshop.. =) Almost emptied my purse, but, well, I've stopped myself one time too many, and I'm not going down!

My purchase.. =)

Oh well, it's been quite an experience.. Hehe.. Thanks to Nad for inviting me, and keeping up with my apparent craziness.. ;-) Haha..

And thank you for reading!
=)

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Salam..

It's Mother's Day today!! Haha.. Happy Mother's Day mom! =) Me and my dad cooked dinner just now and mom just had to sit and eat. LoL.. Sorry, didn't take any pictures though, I was rushing here and there doing the vege and drinks. My dad made the steaks, while I'm in charge of the potato (as d complement to the steak), vegetable (had broccoli btw), mushroom soup and the gravy.. Haha.. Managed to finish everything under 1 and a half hours..

And now, I'm full up. Hehe.. And judging through my mom's wide smile, I know she's happy.

Picture taken at a wedding ceremony of my dad's ex-employee (who also happens to be my mom's friend)..

Anyway, had a really full day today.. Went to ITEX at KLCC Convention Centre (didn't manage to find mr hilman though...), bought a few books, a late lunch and rushes back to prepare d dinner. Will post bout ITEX later k, I'm off to rest for a bit and be ready for tomorrow.. There's a LOT to tell, and I'm glad to say I gain a lot from that visit. Still, let's save it for later yea...

And, as always, thanks for reading!
=)

Freedom!!

Salam..

Today marks the day that I've finally finished my exams!!! Hehehe.. Feel so giddy out of a sudden.. LoL.. Anyway, it's quite a relief that it's over, although I do have some regrets regarding the exams, let bygones be bygones, right?

Oh well, Monday next week I'll be starting my industrial training.. =) Am having mixed feeling about that, actually I don't know what to expect. How the culture would be, what is expected of me, what types of work I'll be doing, even down to the clothing I should be wearing..

Haha.. I'm sure a lot of my friends is also feeling the same..

...

On another note, right after the final paper about 10 hours ago, I went straight to the Faculty to settle some problems with my industrial training registration.. Rushed and rushed, but didn't managed to get it settled coz our Timb. Dekan is taking a leave today..

Haih, so I have to settle it next week.. Huhu.. Oh well, thankfully my posting is nearby, so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem.. =)

Then, went straight to Jusco Cheras Selatan for lunch and movie.. Haha.. It's been such a long time since I've seen a movie.. =) Thanks Nad, for keeping me company.. ;-)

We watched :

Hehe.. It was okay, not brilliant, but okay.. =) See for yourself and judge it..

...

I'll be heading to Ipoh tomorrow.. Had to send my grandmum back to her hometown.. Then, rush back to KL and be ready for industrial training.. Wish me luck! And for those who are still not finished with their exam, all the best!

Thanks for reading!!
=)
